With their twenty first-round selection (#637 overall) in the 2018 MLB Draft, the New York Yankees selected third basemen Mitchell Robinson. He is a 4-Yr Sr at the University of British Columbia. Robinson was previously drafted in the 22nd round of the 2014 draft by the Miami Marlins.
Robinson had a strong senior season in the great white north, posting a .361 average with 8 home runs and 54 rbi’s. Robinson also walked more than he struck out (28 BBs, 27 Ks).
Defensively, he played third base for the Thunderbirds, but has also played catcher and first base at the collegiate level with Florida International and Central Arizona.
Robinson is the fifth college bat selected by the Yankees and the first third basemen they have taken in the draft so far.
