Yankees MiLB Preview: Wednesday, July 3, 2019

RHP Adonis Rosa (1-0, 4.84) vs. Teddy Stankiewicz (4-4, 3.90)

Adonis Rosa is making his 6th start of the season and his 3rd with Triple-A Scranton. Rosa last pitched on 6/28 against Leigh Valley where he tossed 6.0 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 4 hits in a no-decision. He will be facing Pawtucket for the first time this season. The Railriders look to get their third win in a row today as they shut out Pawtucket 4-0 on Tuesday.

As a team, the RailRiders pitching staff holds an ERA of 4.60 which is only the 3rd lowest combined ERA in the International league behind Columbus and Gwinnett. Railriders pitchers are 2nd alone in the league in strikeouts with 775, trailing only Durham, who have struck out 812 hitters.



RHP Garrett Whitlock (3-2, 2.89) vs. RHP Denyi Reyes (2-9, 4.66)

Garrett Whitlock will be making his 14th start of the season for Trenton and his 5th against Portland. In his previous outing on 6/27 against New Hampshire, he threw 6.0 innings and allowed only one run while fanning a season-high 7 batters. The Thunder look to get back in the win column after getting shut out in a 1-0 loss on Tuesday.

As a team, Trenton pitchers hold a 3.58 ERA with 691 strikeouts in 668 1/3 innings pitched. Portland currently has the highest team ERA in the Eastern League at 3.91.

RHP Jio Orozco (2-2, 4.19) vs. RHP Wendolyn Bautista (0-3, 4.60)

Jio Orozco will be making his 4th start of the season for High-A Tampa and his second against Daytona. He last faced the Tortugas on 6/27  where he grabbed a win after going 5.0 innings allowing two runs on four hits. The Tarpons look to get their second win in a row as they defeated Dayton 9-2 on Tuesday.

As a staff, Tarpons pitchers hold a 3.85 ERA and are 3rd in the Florida State League in strikeouts trailing Clearwater and Fort Myers. As a team, Tortugas pitchers have allowed the most runs of any other team in the League with 685.


RHP Luis Medina (1-6, 7.97) vs. RHP Keaton Winn (3-5, 3.52)

Luis Medina will make his 13th start of the season for Charleston and his second against Augusta. In his May 18th start against the Green Jackets, he took a no-decision after throwing 4 1/3 innings and giving up five runs (4 earned). The RiverDogs look to bounce back after getting shut out by Augusta on Tuesday.

As a team, the RiverDogs pitching staff holds a 3.79 ERA with 768 strikeouts in 726 1/3 innings pitched. Augusta pitchers are currently second in the South Atlantic League in strikeouts with 803, trailing Delmarva who have only five more at 808.


LHP Jake Agnos (0-0, 0.00) vs. RHP Guadalupe Chavez (0-0, 0.6)

This year’s fourth-round draft pick for the Yankees will be making his first start for Staten Island today against Tri-City. Staten Island is coming off a 2-1 loss yesterday against Tri-City.  Agnos made one start in the Gulf Coast League allowing two earned runs in two innings of work taking the loss on June 26.

The Staten Island pitching staff has done its job early on as they currently have the lowest team ERA in the New York-Penn League with a stellar 2.26. They also have allowed the fewest walks in the League with 30. The next closest team, Hudson Valley, has 45.


LHP Ryan Anderson (0-0, 0.00) vs. TBD

Lefty Ryan Anderson will be making his second start of the season for Pulaski. In his first start against Princeton on June 27 he went 3.0 innings, gave up only 1 hit, and allowed a walk. Pulaski is coming off a 10-5 win over Elizabethtown on Tuesday.
