Class-A Advanced

Dunedin Blue Jays (56-28) vs. Tampa Tarpons (37-49)

RHP Shawn Semple (1-2, 3.57) vs. LHP Nick Allgeyer (6-3, 3.10)

Shawn Semple will be making his 11th start of the season for the Tarpons and his 2nd against Dunedin. He last faced the Blue Jays on 5/7 where he threw 4.0 scoreless innings allowing 4 hits and struck out 3. He last pitched on 7/4 against Clearwater where he took the loss after going 6 1/3 innings allowing 5 earned runs. The Tarpons are coming off of a 4-3 loss in extra innings to the Blue Jays on Monday.

Tarpons pitchers currently hold a 3.78 ERA in 736 1/3 innings pitched and are 3rd in the Florida State League with 753 combined strikeouts. Dunedin pitchers hold a 3.01 ERA with 732 strikeouts.

RHP Harold Cortijo (3-1, 1.93) vs. RHP Alan Rangel (7-4, 4.74)

Harold Cortijp makes his 6th start for the RiverDogs and his 3rd against the Braves. He Last faced Rome on 6/36 where he went 6.0 innings allowing an earned run on 4 hits. IN his previous start on 7/2 against Augusta he took the loss after going 6.0 innings and allowing only 1 earned run on 4 hits.

The RiverDogs hold a team ERA of 3.90 in 778 1/3 innings pitched. They currently have the 2nd fewest home runs allowed in the SAL with 44. The Braves have a team ERA of 3.27 and have allowed 50 home runs against their opponents this season.

Class-A Short Season

Connecticut Tigers (10-13) vs. Staten Island Yankees (12-10)

LHP Abismael Villaman (1-0, 3.38) vs. RHP Chavez Fernander (2-1, 1.93)

Abislael Villaman will make his 2nd start of the season for Staten Island and will be seeing the Tigers for the 2nd time. He last faced Connecticut on 6/20 where he pitched 3.0 innings and allowed 2 earned runs on 3 hits while striking out 2. In his previous outing against Tri-City on 7/3, he went 5.0 scoreless innings allowing only 2 hits while picking up the “W”. The SI Yanks are coming off a 2-1 win over Connecticut on Monday.

Staten Island pitchers currently have the 2nd lowest team ERA in the New York-Penn League at 2.44 in 192.0 innings pitched versus Connecticut’s 3.78 in 195.0 innings. Connecticut pitchers are tied for 4th in the NY-Penn League’s home runs allowed category with 10 wheres Staten Island pitchers are tied with Mahoning Valley for the fewest with 6.
