Staten Island Yankees Release 2016 Schedule

The Staten Island Yankees have released their 2016 season schedule today and the Baby Bombers will continue the hunt for their seventh New York-Penn League Championship on Friday, June 17 when they open up the season across the Verrazano Bridge against the rival Brooklyn Cyclones.

The Staten Island Yankees have faced off against the Brooklyn Cyclones in the last 11 opening days, owning a 2-9 record against them in those games.  The last time they were scheduled to open the season on the road was 2012 when they lost to the Cyclones 2-0 on June 18.  Their best opening day game came on June 20, 2006 when they won an 18-0 game at what was then Keyspan Park in Brooklyn.

Overall the Yankees have a 2-15 record in the opening game of the season with their last win coming in 2013.  The last time they did not face Brooklyn was 2004 when they opened the season on the road against the Aberdeen Ironbirds.
