Staten Island Yankees Fall to Brooklyn Once Again

STATEN ISLAND, NY – In front of a crowd of 5,932 at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George the Staten Island Yankees fell to the rival Brooklyn Cyclones for the second time this season.

Six pitchers took the hill for the Baby Bombers, starting with Gabriel Encinas  who pitched an inning and two/thirds allowing two runs on a hit and a walk while striking out two.  Only one of the runs charged to Encinas was earned.   Alex Smith was next on the hill for Staten Island, tossing two innings allowing run on three hits and two walks .  He was followed by Dietrich Enns who pitched an inning and a third allowing just a walk.

Derek Varnadore came into the game for the sixth inning, he went an inning and two third allowing a run on two hits and two walks.  Charles Basford and then Stefan Lopez followed throwing a combined two and a third shutout innings.

The Staten Island Yankees offense came off of the bat of Saxon Butler who had a solo home-run in the bottom of the third inning to right-center field.  Matthew Duran had the only other Baby Bomber base hit in the game.

Tomorrow night these two teams meet again with Evan Rutckyj taking the hill for Staten Island.  Fans can listen to the game via
