Pinstriped Profile: 34th Round Pick – Jordan Butler

Height: 6’”

Weight: 180

Throws: Left

Age: 18, December,02,1998

New York Yankees Vice President of Domestic Amateur Scouting, Damon Oppenheimer, selected pitcher Jordan Butler out of Alonso HS with the 1022 overall draft pick in the 34th round of the 2017 Draft.

Butler is a two-way player, who shows impressive power at the plate. Despite his power, he’s a much better prospect as a pitcher, and has pitched on two 18 and under All-American teams.

Butler is currently a two-pitch-pitcher. He throws a low-90’s fastball, and and slider. Both of his offerings, are considered good out-pitches, and these two=pitches combined with his deceptive delivery makes him an elite relief prospect.

Unfortunately prep relievers aren’t sought after commodities, which is why it is believed that Butler will attend college with the Florida Gators. If the Yankees do convince him to sign, they’d have a lefty-relief that Baseball America believes could already dominate A-ball. If he he does go to college, and proves to be a consistent and durable pitcher, he’ll be drafted much earlier.
