In the 23rd round of the 2017 MLB Draft the New York Yankees selected right-handed pitcher Colby Davis out of Chaparral High School
In 2017 Davis went 5-1 29th 53 strikeouts over 47 innings pitched according to Ron Beham of AZDiamondReport.org. He played for the Rays Scout Team in the 2016 Perfect Game WWBA World Championships and was a 2017 first team all-region and second team all-conference player.
According to AZDiamondReport.org, Davis has a fastball that is currently 88-91 miles per hour with heavy run and sink to the arm side. His breaking ball sits at 77-78 mph and a good changeup with arm side fade. He has an excellent downhill plane, with an over the top arm slot.
Yankees fans should know the high school, as it is the same school that produced currently top pitching prospect Chance Adams.
