New York Yankees Vice President of Domestic Amateur Scouting, Damon Oppenheimer, selected right-handed pitcher Janson Junk out of Seattle University with the 662nd overall draft pick in the 22nd round of the 2017 Draft.
Junk just completed his junior season with the Redhawks where he notched a career-best 61 strikeouts in 76 innings pitched. Junk has a power arm that shows consistency in the mid-90s (93-96 mph) and has touched 98 mph.
In a game in 2016, Junk struck out 13 batters in just six innings and surrendered only three hits.
After not starting a single game his freshman year, Junk started 12 games in 2017 and posted a 5.92 ERA, 1.70 WHIP, and 6-7 overall record.
