The Barrington, Illinois native had a .992 fielding percentage as the University of Notre Dame’s starting catcher this season. The senior batted at a slash line of .215/.339/.303 with one home run, 10 doubles, and 31 runs batted in.

Lidge appeared in all 58 games this season and started in 57 of them.

Ryan’s last name might sound familiar to baseball fans, and the answer is yes, he is related (the nephew) to ex-major league pitcher Brad Lidge.
