Pinstriped Performances: Wednesday, July 3, 2019



On Wednesday, the New York Yankees affiliates went 4-3 in the seven games that were played. The Dominican Summer League team was able to dominate their opponent and their bats were unstoppable. Meanwhile, Staten Island saw a pitcher excel in his debut, Pulaski got a home run from one of its top prospects, and Scranton Wilkes-Barre used the long ball to excel to victory:

Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders (Triple-A): The Railriders (49-35) defeated the Pawtucket Red Sox, 5-3.

  • Thairo Estrada went 2-for-4 with a run scored, a double, and he hit a two-run home run (5) in the top of the third. Estrada is currently on a six-game hit streak.
  • Kyle Higashioka: 1-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 home run (13), 1 RBI (33). Higashioka has 6 home runs in his last 10 games. 
  • Tyler Wade: 1-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 double, 1 RBI (23). Wade extended his hit streak to six games. 
  • Clint Frazier: 1-for-5, 1 run scored.
  • Trey Amburgey: 1-for-4, 1 double. Amburgey now has 20 doubles on the season. 
  • Billy Burns: 1-for-3, 1 walk.
  • Ben Heller: 2 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 2 K. 16 of 21 pitches were strikes. 
  • Adonis Rosa (2-0): 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 7 K. 59 of 90 pitches were strikes. Rosa has gone six innings, allowed two earned runs, and struck out seven in each of his last two outings. 
  • David Sosebee (4th save): 1 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 1 K. 15 of 23 pitches were strikes. 

Trenton Thunder (Double-A): The Thunder (45-36) lost 9-2 to the Portland Sea Dogs.

Tampa Tarpons (Single-A Advanced): The Tarpons (35-46) lost 5-4 in 10 innings to the Daytona Tortugas.

  • Diego Castillo: 1-for-4, 1 triple.
  • Deivi Munoz: 2-for-4, 1 run scored.
  • Leonardo Molina: 1-for-2, 1 run scored, 2 walks. Molina was called up to Tampa on Wednesday. 
  • Estevan Florial: 1-for-5. Florial is on a five-game hit streak. 
  • David Metzgar: 0-for-4, 1 RBI (5).
  • Steven Sensley: 0-for-4, 1 stolen base.
  • Jio Orozco: 7 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 7 K. 60 of 93 pitches were strikes. Orozco has allowed three runs or fewer in each of his last seven starts dating back to May 20. It is the third time this year he has gone at least seven innings (other two outings with Charleston). 
  • Hobie Harris: 1 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 4 BB, 1 K. 10 of 29 pitches were strikes. 
  • Matt Wivinis (2-2): 1.1 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 2 H, 2 K. 16 of 26 pitches were strikes. 

Charleston Riverdogs (Single-A): The Riverdogs (43-41) lost 11-8 to the Augusta GreenJackets.

  • Brandon Lockridge: 2-for-4, 2 runs scored, 1 walk, 1 stolen base, 1 RBI (37). Lockridge is up to 15 stolen bases for the year. 
  • Max Burt: 2-for-5, 1 run scored, 1 double, 1 RBI (23).
  • Kyle Gray: 2-for-5, 2 runs scored, 1 double, 1 RBI (38). Gray has had multiple hits in 5 of the last 10 games. 
  • Eduardo Navas: 1-for-3, 1 run scored, 1 double, 2 RBIs (10,11). Navas has 4 RBIs in the last three games dating back to when he was in Trenton. 
  • Mickey Gasper: 1-for-5, 1 RBI (25).
  • Matt Pita: 1-for-4, 1 run scored.
  • Anthony Seigler: 1-for-4, 1 walk. Seigler extended his on-base streak to 17 games. 
  • Luis Medina (1-7): 2.2 IP, 5 ER, 4 H, 5 BB, 2 K. 40 of 76 pitches were strikes. Medina has allowed 5 runs or more in each of the last 3 starts. 
  • Jhony Brito: 4.1 IP, 6 R (2 ER), 5 H, 1 BB, 2 K. 42 of 61 pitches were strikes. 
  • Ron Marinaccio: 2 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 BB, 2 K. 14 of 23 pitches were strikes. Marinaccio hasn’t allowed a run in 4 of 6 outings this year. 

Staten Island Yankees (Short-Season): The Yankees (11-7) defeated the Tri-City Valleycats, 5-2.

Pulaski Yankees (Rookie-Advanced): The Yankees (9-5) defeated the Elizabethton Twins, 4-1.

  • Nelson Alvarez: 1-for-3, 1 RBI (5).
  • Chad Bell: 1-for-3, 1 double.
  • Oliver Dunn: 0-for-1, 1 run scored, 1 stolen base, 3 walks.
  • Ryan Anderson: 3 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 3 K. 28 of 48 pitches were strikes. 
  • Nelvin Correa (2-0): 4.2 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 4 K. 44 of 69 pitches were strikes. Correa has allowed one run over the last 9.2 innings he’s pitched in. 
  • Derek Craft (2nd save): 1.1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K. 12 of 20 pitches were strikes. Craft has 11 strikeouts to 2 walks without allowing a run in 5 outings this year. 

Gulf Coast League (Rookie): The GCL Yankees West (2-4) had their game suspended against GCL Tigers East. The Yankees trail 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth.

Dominican Summer League (Rookie): The DSL Yankees (13-12) took offense to a whole new level with a 38-2 victory over DSL Twins.

  • Brayan Jimenez: 4-for-7, 1 walk, 3 runs scored, 3 doubles, 7 RBIs (2,3,4,5,6,7,8).
  • Mauro Bonifacio: 4-for-6, 1 walk, 5 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 home run (3), 5 RBIs (7,8,9,10,11).
  • Alex Garcia: 4-for-9, 5 runs scored, 1 stolen base, 2 doubles, 3 RBIs (4,5,6).
  • Anthony Valenzuela: 2-for-7, 2 walks, 3 runs scored, 1 double, 1 home run (3), 5 RBIs (8,9,10,11,12).
  • Sergio Vargas: 3-for-6, 1 walk, 1 home run (1), 4 RBIs (7,8,9,10).
  • Maikol Escotto: 3-for-5, 3 walks, 6 runs scored, 1 home run (4), 1 RBI (15). Escotto has 9 RBIs in the last 4 games. 
  • Asdrubal Alvarez: 3-for-5, 2 runs scored, 1 home run (1), 4 RBIs (4,5,6,7).
  • Kevyn Camacho: 2-for-4, 1 walk, 3 runs scored, 2 RBIs (4,5).
  • Nicolas Garcia: 2-for-4, 1 run scored, 1 RBI (5).
