MILB Spring Training Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Game Notes – March 13, 2019


The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders took field 1 at the Yankees Player Development and Scouting Complex to take on the Atlanta Braves Triple-A team on Wednesday afternoon.

Pitching:

J.P. Feyereisen

  • JP is getting some good swings and misses in his second inning of work
  • Struck out two in his second inning, looked effective, not getting behind in counts
  • JP stayed in for a third inning of work and his breaking ball still looks sharp, fooling left-handed hitters
  • Pulled JP after 2.2 innings, bringing in Chase Hodson

Chase Hodson

  • Hodson has given up a double and a walk to start his appearance

Greg Weissert

  •  Weissert walked his first two batters, having trouble finding the strike zone
  • First three batters: walk, walk, RBI single
  • Pulled after one out, left bases loaded

Kaleb Ort

  • Ort works out of the bases loaded jam with a strikeout and a fly out to center
  • Ort is throwing a live fastball, getting swings and misses, his fastball is sitting around 93-95 mph

Fielding and hitting

  • Mandy Alvarez crushed one to left center that died a few steps from the warning track.
  • Alvarez made a strong throw with good footwork on a grounder to third
  • Kellin Deglan recovered from a passed ball on a strikeout, showing off his arm on a ball off the backstop
  • Devyn Bolasky has robbed of a hit that the left fielder made a diving catch to save in the 5th
  • Zack Zehner jumped on the first pitch for a single up the middle in the 8th
  • Mandy Alvarez was robbed of a base hit up the middle by an impressive spinning play by the shortstop
  • Gosuke Katoh reaches base with a single to right, advances to second because the right fielder misplayed the ball
