MiLB Spring Training Intrasquad Game Notes: March 19, 2019


  • Otto, Lehnen, and Zurak combined to throw 8 1/3 and struck out 16, while just permitting two hits, five walks, and no runs

Glenn Otto

  • Threw a fastball (94-97), changeup (88-90), and a curveball
  • Otto’s fastball sat 95 mph, and he threw a plus curve today
  • In 3 1/3 innings pitched, he did not permit a hit or run
  • Otto struck out eight batters (4 looking) and walked three
  • Struck out the side in the 1st and 3rd innings

Dalton Lehnen

  • Threw a fastball, sinker, changeup, slider, and curveball
  • Three innings pitched, two hits, three walks, and 0 runs
  • Struck out 5, including the first four batters that he faced
  • Struck out one on a fastball, two looking on a curve, and two swinging on changeups

Kyle Zurak

  • Fastball was 92-3
  • Two innings pitched, 0 hits, one walk, three strikeouts, and 0 runs

Luis Gil

  • Over 3 1/3 innings, Gil just recorded five outs (four via strikeout)
  • Pitched to five three-ball counts
  • Gave up three runs while walking three
  • Fastball 95-96, changeup 88-89, curveball 81
  • Gil’s fastball featured natural cut

Alexander Vizcaino

  • Fastball sat 95 mph, changeup was 88-89 mph and also threw a curveball
  • 3 2/3 innings pitched, 0 walks, seven strikeouts, two hits, 0 runs
  • Nasty changeup, which is by far his best pitch
  • Breaking ball showed significant improvement across his outing

Daniel Ramos

  • Fastball velocity was way down, sitting 89-90 mph (is typically around 95)
  • Just recorded three outs over two innings
  • Three runs, three hits, one walk, three earned runs
  • Permitted two no-doubt home runs

Shawn Semple

  • Semple was consistent throughout his start for the Trenton Thunder, allowing just two hits in his outing.
  • His fastball was 91-93 mph, curveball 81 mph. changeup 84 mph

Domingo Acevedo

  • Domingo Acevedo’s velocity was down in his outing, throwing it at 90-92 mph
  • His changeup was 85 mph, and the slider was at 80 mph

Kaleb Ort

  • Ort was 93-94 mph with his fastball


Kyle Gray

  • Went 3-4 with three singles
  • Two seeing-eye singles up the middle
  • Battled and showed a tremendous amount of grit in his 1st at bat, ended up striking out but worked his way from down in the count and fouled many pitches off

Everson Pereira

  • His lone at-bat came in the 8th inning, and Pereira smashed the only ball he saw in the game well over the left-center field wall
  • Impressive power

Jesus Bastidas

  • Sent the first pitch of the 8th inning, which was an 80 mph changeup off Ramos, down the left field line for a no-doubt home run

David Metzgar

  • Metzgar singled, stole a base and scored a run
