Yankees prospect Aaron Judge earned the only run of the game for the Scottsdale Scorpions who against the Glendale Desert Dogs. Judge was the Scorpions designated hitter, and batted 1-3 with two walks. The Scorpions fell to the Desert Dogs 5-1.
Kyle Higashioka played as the Scorpions catcher. He received three at bats and connected for a double on a line drive to center field in the eighth inning. Dante Bichette Jr. played third base. He batted 0-3 with two strikeouts, while Greg Bird who played first base, went 0-2 in his at bats with two walks and one strikeout. Tyler Austin played right field. He received one at bat and was then replaced in the batting line up by Blake Miller.
Prospect pitcher, Caleb Cotham, entered the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. He faced six batters, four of which got on base. During that inning two runs were scored.
Judge earned his run in the top of the seventh inning. At bat, he was walked, followed by a walk for Bird, moving Judge to second. Next to hit was Miller, who singled on a groundball, bringing Judge home from second.
The Scorpions will return to action this Monday to play the Salt River Rafters at 12:35 MST.
