GCL Yankees East Victorious on Opening Day – Pinstriped Prospects

GCL Yankees East Victorious on Opening Day

Friday afternoon was opening day in the Gulf Coast League and the GCL Yankees East team came out victorious in their game against the GCL Braves.  However, the GCL Yankees West where shutout by the GCL Phillies.

Leading the GCL Yankees East to victory was this year’s 25th round pick Edel Lauces, who had a rather interesting road to the draft.  Lauces went 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored, 2homeruns and 3 RBIs.  He was joined by Brandon Wagner and Yonauris Rodriguez who each had 2 hits apiece in the 5-4 victory.

Meanwhile back at the Yankees complex Donny Sands went 2-for-4 in the loss to the GCL Phillies, the standout hitter is trying his hand at catcher this season after spending all of last season at the hot corner for the Yankees.
