Per Jesse Sanchez, the Rangers are the favorite to sign Martinez.

As per BA The Yanks are tied to two top 5 catching prospects. One known for his bat. Augustin Ramirez is said to have nice power in a compact RH swing. Great exit volo but has to improve on his receiving skills. Agustin is 16, 6-0 200 R-R.
The second Prospect is Antonio Gomez , Antonio is said to have a plus, plus arm and a super quick release. His catching skills are solid but his bat needs work. He is said to have good pop. Gomez is 16, 6-2 205 R-R.. They said his showcase was off the charts pertaining to his throws to 2nd.
Sounds good. BTW I have heard the Yanks are also in the running for one of the rare big LHP coming out this J2.

      Thanks Yankyfan!

We missed out on Contreras. I don’t understand why the Yanks passed on everyone but a SS in that Braves situation. The Angels feasted on it.
Still have hopes for Mauro Bonifacio and Stir Candelario, though the Mariners are linked to Stir.

No team can sign everyone. If a player does not meet the Yankees needs, there is no reason to sign him.

For no bonus cost Juan would have been an interesting signing. He has a special arm. He has no clue of where the ball is going but you never know.

With the addition of Walker to the 40 man roster, someone will have to be dropped off. Walker on the Yankees probably means Scranton to get even better and going to be as close to a major league caliber team as you can get.

Stir Candelario signs with Rays. Connected to the Mariners.
