Dustin Fowler continues to impress as he went 3 for 4 with a big 3-run home run and a stolen base to help lead the Surprise Saguaros to a 9-8 victory over the Glendale Desert Dogs Wednesday afternoon at Salt River Fields. Joining Fowler in the starting lineup were catcher Gary Sanchez, right fielder Tyler Austin and at second base Tyler Wade.
The second inning would be rough for Clarkin as he gave up four hits including a three-run home run to Astros prospect Derek Fisher.
Clarkin would settle down in the third inning, striking out two batters in a row and putting up a zero on the scoreboard.
In his last inning of work, Clarkin gave up a leadoff double to Astros prospect J.D. Davis that would later result in a run on a single by Nicky Delmonico.
Chaz Hebert would replace Clarkin in the fifth inning and throw two innings of shutout ball.
Tyler Webb would come into the game in the top of the seventh inning and didn’t allow a run. Walks would haunt Webb, as he would not get out of the eighth inning. He was charged with four runs after he surrendered two doubles and a triple.
Tyler Austin received the start in right field, going 2 for 4 with a run batted in and a stolen base on the day. Gary Sanchez and Tyler Wade combined to go 2 for 8 with four strikeouts.
