First baseman/outfielder Tyler Austin will begin his return to The Bronx on Friday when he dons a Tampa Yankees uniform for the first time since 2012. Austin, 25, will be seeing his first game action since going on the disabled list with a broken foot he suffered just before spring training.
Due to the injury, he missed all of spring training and just started to face live pitching earlier this week. Last season he played in 31 major league games after making his major-league debut on August 13, 2016. In his first major league at-bat, he hit a homerun making history when his teammate and fellow rookie Aaron Judge went deep in the following at bat. They became the first teammates to homer in their debuts in the same game.
No word yet on what position he will play in the game.
