SI Yanks Starting to Realize the Potential of Ballpark

RCB Ballpark (Eduardo Amaro)

The Staten Island Yankees have steadily been making announcements the last few weeks for special events to take place at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

It started with the announcement of their Unforgettable IPA-Taco Festival that will be held on June 10.  Then they announced that from November 25 – December 23, 2017, the ballpark will become Winter Wonderland Staten Island.  An 80’s Music Festival announced for July 28.

After that, they announced that they will be hosting their first ever MMA card with Premier Fighting Championship 24 on July 15. And now last night in conjunction with Impact Wrestling they announced that the ballpark would host its first professional wrestling live event on August 5.

While the ballpark has hosted several concerts in the past including The Beach Boys, Aaron Carter, etc. It has never had a steady schedule of non-baseball events throughout the year.  When you add in the Wagner College and numerous high school baseball games that already were played at the ballpark you can see the that the stadium is getting a fair amount of use.

You can say that the Baby Bombers are finally starting to realize the potential of the ballpark as an event venue.
