PULASKI, Va. – There may be no stopping the Pulaski Yankees as the 2015 Appalachian League season heads into the home stretch.
The Yankees (36-21) erased an early 4-0 Elizabethton (30-26) lead with a six-run third and five-run fourth en route to a 14-5 rout of the Twins and their eighth straight viceroy before 1,805 fans at Calfee Park Friday night.
Tony Franklin’s club is 23-8 at home and leads the Appalachian League East by three games and has the best record in the Rookie Advanced circuit.
First baseman Kane Sweeney and center fielder Carlos Vidal, who hit his ninth homer, each had three RBIs. Jose Javier also hit one out. Right-hander Adonis Rosa, despite a rough beginning, was the beneficiary of the Yankees’ offensive onslaught and won his seventh game in nine decisions.
The teams will conclude their series at 7 p.m. Saturday before the Bluefield Blue Jays arrive for the regular-seasin three-game series at Calfee Park. The Yankees will finish the 2015 season with four games at Bristol and two at Johnson City.
