Dalton Lehnen (Augustana Athletic Communications)

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 222

Bats: Left

Throws: Left

Age: 21, May 16, 1996

New York Yankees Vice President of Domestic Amateur Scouting, Damon Oppenheimer, Selected left-handed pitcher Dalton Lehnen out of Augustana University with the 182nd overall draft pick in the sixth round of the 2017 Draft.

Lehnen, 21, was the top prospect to come out of South Dakota.  Prior to pitching for Augustana he spent two seasons at the University of Cincinnati, making 13 starts in 16 games as a freshman.  In his second season at Cincinnati he appeared in just eight games, making one start, and pitching nine innings.

With Augustana he went 3-3 with a 2.60 ERA over 52 innings and striking out 61 batters.  He owns a fastball that sits in the low-90s but has topped out at 96 miles per hour.  Long-term though scouts believe he will end up in the bullpen but to start his career he will likely start.  He will need to work on his control to stick as a starter and develop strong secondary offerings.
