It was an overall solid day on the Yankees farm system on Sunday, April 30. The Yankees minor league affiliates went 2-2 on the day in game action with the upper-level teams earning wins while the two Class-A teams took losses.
Dustin Fowler – Well you cannot talk about top performances of the day without talking about how Dustin Fowler hit for the cycle, including a walk-off home run that gave the RailRiders the victory. Fowler ended the day going 5-for-6 with two doubles and two RBIs in the game.
In Eastern League action the Trenton Thunder beat the Erie SeaWolves with strong performances from several Baby Bombers.
Mike Ford went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the game, the big first baseman has been solid for the Thunder all season and is now hitting .303 for the 2017 season.
Not to be outdone was outfielder Zack Zehner who continues to lead the Thunder at the plate. He collected two hits to raise his season average to .323.
Gleyber Torres continues to hit well since coming off the disabled list, the top prospect collected two hits to bring his average back over the .290-mark with a .292 batting average.
Ronald Herrera allowed just three hits and walk in 5 1/3 innings in his 2017 season debut. The right-hander is coming off of the disabled list and was impressive, throwing 87 pitches, 58 for strikes.
Second baseman Nick Solak collected two hits in the Yankees loss, raising his average to .264. In his last 10 games, he has hit .321.
Zack Littell continues to be impressive on the mound, throwing three shutout innings in relief, lowering his season ERA to 1.71.
Estevan Florial went 2-for-5 with a RBI in the loss to the Delmarva Shorebirds.
The big performance in the game came from Adonis Rosa who struck out nine batters over five innings of work.
