STATEN ISLAND – There was a Bird sighting in Staten Island this week.
The New York Yankees’ First Baseman, Greg Bird, who has been sidelined since May 1 with an ankle injury, joined the big-league club’s Class-A (short season) affiliate Staten Island on Tuesday and Wednesday to participate in batting practice.

There has been speculation swirling around Bird regarding his injury and the seriousness of it, however, the 24-year-old appeared to be in good spirits working with the New York-Penn League club.
Bird’s time in Staten Island came to an end on Wednesday, and he is expected to begin a rehab assignment soon.
