Albert Abreu Promoted to Tampa Yankees

Albert Abreu (Jerry Coli)

The Tampa Yankees are adding another starter ïto their rotation from Low-A Charleston with the addition of right-hander Albert Abreu .  Abreu came to the New York Yankees organization after the Yankees’ trade with the Houston Astros, sending Brian McCann in return for Abreu, and Jorge Guzman.

Of course if you follow Pinstriped Prospects on Twitter this is not news to you as we reported it on April 21.

Abreu started this season with the Charleston RiverDogs and through three starts he has lived up to expectation so far. Through 14 2/3 IP he holds a 1.84 ERA and .84 WHIP, while giving up just three earned runs and totaling 22 strikeouts.  According to a source, Abreu will make his Tampa Yankees debut on Tuesday, April 25 when they take on the Clearwater Threshers at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
